University of Science and Technology of Hanoi (USTH), also called Vietnam France University, is an advanced-model international public university which was established under the Bilateral Agreement between Vietnamese and French Governments signed on November 12, 2009, and the Decision No. 2067/QĐ-TTg dated November 09, 2009 of the Prime Minister.

USTH delivers degrees in compliance with the European Bologna system (LMD) (Bachelor/Master/PhD studying in 3/2/3 year-duration, respectively). The Master Program is a 2-year course with 4 semesters: Year 1 (M1) – Semester 1 and Semester 2; Year 2 (M2) – Semester 3 and Semester 4. Except for QCF (agreement between USTH and John von Neumann (JVN) Institute, VNU HCMC), the Master Degree is co-accredited by France and Vietnam and is broadly recognized in the world.

USTH teaching methods are based on high level of hand-on practices, and internships in research and development laboratories or in industrial enterprises in Vietnam and abroad. The pedagogic teams of USTH are 100% composed of international and Vietnamese Professors and Doctors with international teaching experience. The official language used in teaching at USTH is English.

Eligibility

Vietnamese and international students graduated from relevant training fields (or having a good background in physics) in or before 2017, with good academic results and ability to use English for studying.

Admission Procedures

Admission procedure of USTH consists of 2 steps: preliminary selection and interview.

Preliminary selection: screening on dossiers (details at Application Dossier)

• Interview: shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in English by a jury. Invitations to an interview shall be delivered by email and telephone. Interview results shall be informed to each candidate within 10 days by email and post.

After admissions, students will be arranged by USTH into relevant English courses based on their levels. At the end of the courses, those who are not qualified will be requested to extend their English courses at USTH until all requirements are satisfied.

Enrollment Criteria

• Applicants must hold a university transcript of Average Good or above;

• Applicants must hold a Bachelor Degree of Average Good or above;*

• Ability to communicate in English;

• Certificate of foreign languages (English, French, v.v..) (if any).

Application Dossier

• Application form for Master course in the academic year 2017-2018 (download here APPLICATION FORM) filled in and signed with recent 3 cm x 4 cm portrait attached;

• Motivation Letter in English (outlining why candidates would like to enroll in USTH).

• Certified English Translation of Bachelor Degree

• Certified English Translation of university transcript*. If the grading system is different to the 0-10 scale applied in Vietnam, a document explaining the applied grading system is required;

• Letters of recommendation;

• Certificate of foreign languages (English, French) (if any); merits and certificates of good study results or scholarships (if any)

* Applicants having completed their Bachelor programs but not yet received their diploma or official academic transcript must submit a provisional letter of graduating confirmation or temporary academic transcript (Certified copies and English translation versions). Successful candidates are required to fulfill all those documents before enrollment.

Applicants are required to submit Application Form and Application Dossier to: University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, Training and Services Building, 18 Hoang Quoc Viet, Cau Giay, Hanoi; and via email to the Academic departments under a PDF or ZIP file named “Admissions Master-<NAME OF DEPARTMENT>-<LAST NAME>-<FIRST NAME> (e.g. Admissions Master-SPACE-NGUYEN VAN A).

Interview Fee and Tuition Fee

• Interview fee: 100,000 VND/candidate, non-refundable in any cases (not applied for foreign resident students);

• Students holding Vietnamese passports: 43,000,000 VND (equivalent to USD 1.900)/year, collectible every semester, unchanged throughout the whole course;

• Students coming from other countries: 90,000,000 VND (equivalent to USD 4.000)/year;

• Students coming from French Consortium universities: free of charge;

• Tuition fee for intensive English course: free of charge.

Scholarship and Fellowship
Since USTH is highly supported and sponsored by external donors (Asian Development Bank and Agribank) in addition to its own high-level state budget and industrial foundation, many candidates can access to our scholarship and fellowship programs.
Merit-based scholarships and/or need-based fellowships cover up to 100% tuition fees and living expenses. Application process, dossier examination, interview are after enrolment.
